    Home protection?
I am looking for shotgun type firearm for self defence, after my psycho ex went off the deep end. She keeps sending me cryptic emails and all kinds of weird shit. I also want something fun to shot My cousin is willing to teach me to shot. I'm wondering what ls2 would recommend. I want something other than the type of guns that carry two shots. I would really like the civilian version of the p90, but I font exactly have the money for that. If anyone has suggestions, though them on the proverbial table. Also, I live in FL, do I need and special permits or a shotgun? I am only keeping it locked in the house, and transporting it to a gun range, Any info would be great,

Cliffs: wants to buys a shotgun, where should I get it, what kind, and do I need any permits,

Remington 870 Express, 12 gauge, 18" barrel with factory mag tube extension. $300 +/- at any big sporting goods chain.

Could also pickup a mossberg for about $100 less, if you want it strictly for home defense. If you actually plan to goto the range and what not with it then I would go with the 870 or mossy 590.

Persuader/maverick/500 I think are great inexpensive shotguns for HD use but if I were shooting clays, hunting, or just general plinking I'd opt for something a bit more high end, but for just home defense they got them with 18" or 20" barrel and p grips in the local shop here for $189 can't beat that.

I agree with that logic, but some people just want one for HD and have no real plans to use it for anything else.

this is the one I reccomend to my friends when they just want something for HD. It's so inexpensive, really everyone should have one.

but for serious the mossy 500 or the remmy 870 are both awesome shotguns.

Crap! I've put my 500 through a lot of shit duck hunting and round counts you won't see trap/skeet shooting, and I've never had a problem.

People don't give the 500 the credit it's due. That being said I want to buy an autoloader for this season. :o

I've got a Maverick 88 with the 28 in barrel with interchangeable chokes. Other than having one of the extractor claws break (I bought it well used), it has been flawless. It has limited magazine capacity, but it never has bothered me. I would like to get a rifled barrel for Hornady Tap sabot use.
