I just formatted my dads computer from WinME to Win2k Pro.

I didnt think about it and didnt write down what model of networking card he had, and now I can't figure it out. Its a Gateway system to I went and put in his serial number @ Gateway's website and downloaded the corresponding drivers.

I went to install them via the hardware installation wizard and it said that the drivers werent the write type.

So does anyone know where I could get some standard generic network card drivers? I've tried everything else I know and cant figure the damn thing out :sad2:

What about your gateway manuals? Did gateway tell you what kind it was or just give you drivers?

if it's onboard, look around on the motherboard for a chipset, it will usually give you a few good detail, or atleast point you in the right direction. If it's not onboard, then even better, just check the card for it's brain, and it usually tells you tehe exact model/make, etc.

If all else fails I've got a bunch of these floppies sitting on my desk as well. Inexpensive card but I've never had any probs with them.

ok, i went and got a eithernet card from staples and it STILL doesnt work!!!

i put the bastard in, ran setup on the disk and it said there wasnt a card found. so i went into device manager and took out all the one eithernet controller and one pci device that were in the unknown category and tried then, but still nothing.

it gives the same error saying that it cant find the right drivers.

     :wtf:
