So here's the deal, my brother is in high school and lifts a lot, he plays football and he wrestles. He has a bench in the garage, but it's kinda crappy and I want to make sure he can squat at least as often as he benches, so I want to buy him a squat rack but I have no idea which ones are good.

    I've found this one:
    http://www.fitnessrush.com/body-solid-powerline-power-rack.html

but it's only 24" front to back and that seems kinda small, the ones at the gym are all at least 36" i'm pretty sure

anyway, I'd love your guys' input, thanks

Maybe it's just my imagination, but the rack the OP posted looks kinda flimsy and weak.

    :dunno:

I have that same model, I purchased it here http://www.jesupgym.com/products.php?cid=13 and had them ship it. It's ok, definitely can't expect gym quality out of something this cheap. Seems sturdy enough, the most I've had is 225lbs at the top. Never did I worry about it failing.

The holes are 3" apart, wish they were 2". Having 24" of room is noticeable, but I haven't had any problems because of it.

If I was to do it over again, I'd rather just build one. Either out of steel tube or wood, like these http://www.home-gym-bodybuilding.com/homemade-power-rack.html

if you go craigslist, i'd try and get a model before you buy it so you can do a little research on their weight limit. the original one posted doesnt say what it's weight limit is.

walmart used to have oen that was super cheap, like $100, but the weight limit was something ridiculous for a squat cage, like 225lbs or something.

Yeah, he could, but in the offseasons a lot of the time I remember the school gym being pretty packed and it kinda sucks lifting by yourself when a team you don't play on is there.

To the guys suggesting just building one, I'm not that good with those kinds of projects and I'd never forgive myself if I fucked up and it broke and hurt him.
Sort of by the same token I want to get him a cage and not just a stand so he can lift to failure or w/e by himself.

Price range is ~$600 but i'm sorta flexible

EliteFTS is very price competitive when compared to other commercial manufacturers.
