What's the best way to have 1 central repository for files that can be accessed from work and home?

wingate vpn sucks and needs to be installed...i'm thinking a win2k RAS/VPN server? I'm not a linux guru, any equivalent that you recommend?

both networks have a linksys DSL router -- so port forwarding should be easy....

what are you trying to do, access the same files from home and work with 2 different computers?

EASIEST would be to put up a server and make it publically accessible via your home network, and use some dynamic DNS service to get to those files from your work.

Personally, I'd put my files on a thumb drive before I'd put my computer on the Internet as a server.

Run a win2k server and set up a VPN through routing and remote access service, it's pretty simple.
