i recently upped my cardio drastically and my knees are suffering. the shoes i'm using are complete dogshit and i'm going out to buy new ones today. i searched and noticed that a lot of people recommended going to a running store and to get my stride analyzed, etc. my question is more directed at what kind of shoe i'll need for uphill treadmill walking. is a different kind of shoe needed for this rather than one for running specifically? should i get a cross trainer instead?

Like you said, go to a specialty running store (not Dicks or Sportmart), check your gait, if you are overpronated or supinated, and let them know what you want to do. They will help you out.

You still may have issues with your gait that can be corrected with the right shoes. Doesn't matter if you are on a tm or the ground...

i might eventually run a bit, but it won't be anything extreme. will a cross trainer still be a good option or should i get a running shoe as a precaution?

i have 2 pair of new balances and i was just using my old ones for the treadmill because i didn't wanna fuck up the new ones. when i first put them on before i get on the treadmill they feel weird as hell. it seems like one part of the soul is raised more than the rest. i looked at it and there seems to be a shitload of wear on the back of the shoe. any idea what that means?

    1. Crosstrain- don't do the same incline walk every single time; use the ellipticals, bike, etc. too
    2. Don't always walk on an incline
    3. Wear the goddamn new shoes! If you've worn out the back of your shoe, it's time to start wearing the new ones.

If you're not running, I honestly don't think you need the expense/time of a specialty running store.

Does it angle to the left or right, or is the wear straight across???

the reason i walk on an incline is because it burns a lot more calories :dunno:

lol. i plan on wearing new shoes starting today. my knees just started hurting yesterday.

i might run eventually (not very often and not all that far) so that's why i was contemplating the idea of a running shoe

This is taken from Dr. Pribut's website. A great resource for runners...
