I'm incredibly anti-hospital when it comes to me...all for it if it means working on somebody else. :) So no MRI, no steroid shot (I want one because it would heal me well but with upcoming plans to fight pro I'm gonna be overly cautious). Stuck a 18 gauge needle (HOLY MOTHERFUCKBALLS PAIN) in it and drained it, cauli ear style. Drained 10 CCs and it was still not even close to normal. Ice and ibuprofen...looks a lot better.

I want to rest it and just do standup...except that might right arm is still very injured from being popped and Renato popped my left arm Thursday. :(

I'd say my only good limb is my right leg...but Ben bore witness to the occasional popping out due to a torn LCL.

    I'm 19 and old. :(

When I've seen knees like that it's typically a really inflamed/ruptured bursa, or a tear of the myotendinous junction like the vastus lateralis...if it's not better within a few weeks I'd hop over to your friendly orthopedist and pop in for an MRI. Steroid shot might not do anything in this scenario if it's the former.

I've been in this boat since I was 16/17. You either stop doing pretty much every activity in your life that you enjoy, or you find a way to deal with it.

its a muay thai kick where you jump with both feet. You snap your lead foot over to the back to get full spin out of your hips...the second you land your lead foot then your back foot should be kicking your opponent in the lower leg.

We call it a suitcase kick cuz the sparring partner usaully holds a bag on his shins like a suitcase.

I landed wrong with my lead foot and my knee snapped.

I had the same thing and didnt go to the hospital or drain it or anything. Go to the local CVS and pick up this gel called like Cool Blue or something. It is just this blue stuff you run on and it makes it feel so much better

So the more I thought about it, the more I'm thinking you have prepatellar bursitis, based on your lifestyle of being on your knees (no :naughty: intended) and the pic. Check it out:

Big red oval is where your swelling is, localized.
    [IMG] [IMG]

2nd pic is what an MRI would probably show:

The white stuff is the fluid/inflammation. When you tear cartilage/ligaments, that white stuff is present *inside* the joint capsule, so the whole knee looks like it has been inflated like a balloon and the kneecap feels like its floating on water ("water on the knee" from Operation :o)
This inflammation is outside the joint capsule around the bursa area and gets confined to that limited space. See the big thick black line running vertically directly to the right of the big white blob? thats the patellar tendon; this is a cross section of a side view of the knee. To the right of the patellar tendon on the MRI is "inside" the joint. To the "left" is outside the joint glove that holds the joint juice inside the joint. Your bulb is hanging outside of the joint glove.
Aspirate it, steroid shot, and compress it. Then rest and pray that works, because excising a chronically infected bursa is a clusterfuck.

oh, and in for updates please :wiggle:
