Sorry I had to make another thread on this.

I ship out to San Diego MCRD in 7 days :(

odfjf;djs I didn't memorize my general orders and i'm nervous as hell.

I couldn't get my two referals (damn low support for this war) so i'm going in as an E-1. :noes:

    I get homesick easily.

I've always been the "Mama's boy" between my older brother and I.

I am worried that I won't shoot expert.

I haven't cried since my grandmother died 3 years ago, but i'm worried i'll cry on my first night at boot camp. I don't want to be soft!

    HELP ME

Memorizing your general orders dosen't matter once you get there, you'll be forced into relearning them with all the other recruits anyways. Going in as an E-1 really dosen't matter, even once you get into the fleet other than how much you'll be getting paied.

Rifle range is easy, just pay attention to your PMIs and don't jerk the trigger. Sight Alignment and Sight Picture. You'll get it when you get there.

Don't be the recruit who only thinks about how much better it is back home. They're the ones who have the worst time while they're there.

It's an awsome experience, make the best out of every situation they put you in and you'll have a blast. Think negativley the whole time and you'll be wishing you never joined the whole time.

    Have fun.

    Don't worry about the range.
Don't worry about your general orders... They will be stuck into your head over and over.
Don't worry about the home sickness... because it won't affect you until around 2nd phase... and be STRONG about it... it hit me very hard but you will be fine.
Don't be a fucking idiot and try to kill yourself... REMEMBER that when you look back on boot camp a year after you get out it will be the funniest thing ever.

GOOD luck. You will need it...

Remember to keep your head low and stay clean and safe. Don't hurt yourself... and remember what's important in your life, your body, and your mind.

Don't stress about your general orders or the range.
I fired pizza box in bootcamp because I was freaked out by my DIs and the shitheaded line coaches. After bootcamp, I never failed to fire expert (on pistol and rifle). Just learn and exercise the fundamentals.
Homesick? Get over it quick. You're not going to be able to 'go home' for at least another 4 years.

As far as being an E1? Suck it up.
Kick ass in bootcamp and you might get meritorious E2. Otherwise, wait the 6 months or so it takes to pick up E2. Whatever you do, get your MCIs busted out ASAP once you're a LCpl. If you want, do them while you're PFC and once you pick up, turn them in.

Join the Corps and find out!

(Marine Corps Institute distance courses. Some are mandatory, and they count as points toward promotion.)

So once I pick up LCpl, I can go home and do paperwork for a few days and become a Corporal? Can I just keep doing that and keep moving up?

Definatley agreed. Although im sure were very biased becasue weve never done OCS.

All i can say is that you can usually tell which Marine officers were prior enlisted. That should tell you something.

Looking back its halirious but it wasnt at the time:nuts:
On another note, a friend of mine who joined the Marines wore a Wild Cats jersey( The cartoon wild cats) to basic. The DIs (they are called DIs right?) took the jersey and made him impersonate all the charecters befor they would give it back.
