I recently received my CCW and I would like to start carrying. I'll be carrying a G19 with no extra magazines.

What are the more common holsters for a G19?

I have an MTAC & Milt Sparks Summer Special II for my 19.

The MTAC is more comfortable, thinner, and conceals slightly better once you get it adjusted right. However... I get a better draw from the SSII, and the SSII seems to stay put better than the MTAC.

Comptac ctac or mtac, bladetech, then you got all your leather choices of which the Sparks vmII usually ranks the highest.

oc or cc? I know you said CCW, but a lot of time people confuse a license to carry (OC or CC) with CCW.

For my XD 40 SC I usually use my Blackhawk Serpa Sportster for OC. When I feel the need to CC I use my Comptac Minotaur MTAC holster. I also have a belly band and ankle holster which I dont use very often.

    CC.

So far I'm leaning towards the MTAC; that looks like a damn nice holster. Do I need to get a "gun belt" or can I use any belt.

Wow, a $150+ holser/belt isn't cheap. I need to do some more research before pulling the trigger.

All of the belts I wear with my clothes are 1.25" or less. I ordered the 1.25" c-clip and it fits great. I dont think I have ever seen a dress belt larger than that or any belt for normal day to day dress for that matter.

Hmm...so you're saying that a good belt (not necessarily one from Comp-Tac) will work fine?

get a gun belt. i have a 1.5" and i've never had any issue with any pants (as far as loops being too small) and it's VERY sturdy.

Same here. Unless you're a real petite guy or only wear dress slacks, 1.5" belts are the way to go. A solid gun type belt also makes a HUGE diffence.

For my G19 I currently have a Comptac CTAC that works ok, but I just found my VM2 will be arriving shortly. Then my CTAC will likely be for sale.

Yes, thats what I am saying. I already have belts that go with what I wear. I saw and still do not see any reason to buy more.

I did notice that about my holster when I first put it on. I thought, " Damn, I need to gain weight for this to fit." I have since been keeping it strapped to a paint bucket to get it formed right.

Hmm, maybe I'll get the holster first and if I see a need to get a belt I will.

Good plan. Then you'll be able to realize how much a belt really helps. if you're on a budget, the Aker B21's are great. Usually less than $40 from Galls.
