Whats a good holster that wont kill my ammo budget? Im mainly getting the CCW for easier handgun purchase, as I cant carry right now since I live on campus.

Fobus Kydex holster. sits securely, rides a tad high for concealment purposes, and will keep your weapon out of view under a jacket or loose sweater/sweatshirt. it'll work fine for your CCW class at under $20 on Ebay... or under $25 for the Roto adjustable version.

sticking with a plastic Kydex holster will be your cheapest bet... and you can save your money for a nice Kramer IWB holster for true CCW carry when you move off campus.

i have the fobus roto paddle holster. comfotable and secure holds my tac-4 in place nice and snug. its too big for true concealment considering it is somewhat bulky and it is holding a .45 but if i wear a sweater or something thick like that you have to be looking for it to see it showing.

can't carry yet anyway. 19yrs old.

I have a bladetech IWB and also a Com-Tac belt holster. Granted, they are not for an XD, but it gives you an idea. The XD is smaller than the HK, so your holster will be similar, just a tad smaller. I just received the Com-Tac the other day. I've been wearing it to see if i like it. After my limited experience with it, i love it. Much better than IWB :o. I can even conceal it with a t-shirt. But it will stick out, if i bend over slighty or something.

    Here is the com-tac

Here is the Blade-Tech IWB (carbon fiber :o)

PS, these are about ~$60 each. I dont think it's that expensive, but that's subjective :o

Also, I think I will try a leather IWB eventually. :hs:

Ive found Ebay is better than any gunshow for holsters.. I picked up 4 different brand new holsters for my Glock 30 for $40 a few months ago.. some guy had bought them all and never got the gun or changed his mind.. I really only use my leather IWB by don hume.. it works great.
