Hog hunt went well this weekend *PICS* Friday afternoon hunt I sat on a tripod for about 3 hours getting rained on. A 125 lb sow showed up just before dark and I shot her with my bow. Good clean quartering away shot through the shoulder. I must have hit heart because she bled like a.... well, like a stuck pig (pardon the pun). Only ran about 40 yards and I could see her the whole time. Nothing Saturday, we were a little hung over and the weather wasn't cooperating. My brother in law shot one (gut shot) and missed two others. He blames the bow Sunday my dad and I decided sunday morning we would go call some coyotes. It was real foggy and felt like it was going to start raining. So he grabbed his Rem 700 .270 and I took my Thompson Encore .22-250 and jumped in the jeep. While looking for a spot, walking out to the end of a peninsula with perfect wind direction, we saw a huge hog about 300 yards away. All the pigs on this ranch are russians. We hit the beach and stalked our way over and got within 50 yds of them and realized there was a blonde spotted one one in the pack. I told him I wanted that one, but it hit the bushes (clumps everywhere, but nothing to big) I told my dad to shoot the one he wanted and that I would run out and get the white one. It worked perfect, he shot and I ran to his pig. The white one hauled ass full blast across in front of me about 100yds. With no prop I finally got her in the scope and shot just as she was getting to another mott of trees... whop! Nailed her right behind the ear. When that pig fell and bunch of piglets went crazy running everywhere, if I had had a pistol with me I could have gotten a lot since they were all around me in the bushes, but I just caught one as it was hitting a different clump of trees and shot it right in the ass. I don't know if it seems that way from the story, but this hunt was a fucking blast. Running shooting reloading (single shot FTW) laughing our asses off. Great day all around. Blonde w/ spots and the piggy. Had to finish it off and all I had was the .22-250....Just a little messy. The three we killed Sunday. Dad forgot the game basket, made hauling animals a little more difficult. We stayed at our lot in Port Oconner. Caught a glimps of some Non-Native Porch Monkeys. God I love this gun Cliffs: Shot some pigs. Ran 50 yds, then shot a pig in the ear @ 100yds that was running. Read the story, not like you have anything better to do.
