They look pretty good to me.

In the last one, I'd like to see it either more head-on, or turned more to the side.

What were your light source / sources?

Very cool looking helmet. What do you do for the surface it is on? I don't know how to do the all white stuff and need a setup like that for taking pictures of my wife's cakes and whatnot.

    thanks guys!

I fucking LOVE it. Played my first game in it tonight. It's perfectly balanced, the visibility is amazing, and everyone commented on the silver kevlar finish... Even the ref's...

Answers to questions: Light - My SB600 bounced off the ceiling and whatever ambient was in the room. looking back, theres a weird shadow on the right side of the 3rd one that could have been prevented if I wasn't in my living room. I think thats my wife wondering what the fuck i'm doing taking pictures of a goalie mask, but it could also be furniture....

The background is just a length of white roll paper laid out on a 70 or so degree angle, covering the whole image. For this one, I rolled it off of my couch and onto my floor.

If you imagine the blue paper in this shot is white, and eliminate the white light tent, then you should get the idea...

    Jared_IRL - i like the facemask a lot!

SkyAce, have you ever used paper for stuff like this?

if not It really does help, hell even a regular sheet of paper or posterboard makes a ton of difference

No flash, using ambient light from the window next to me and the overhead flourscents, and its not completely focused, (used P%S, my only SLR at the moment is film SLR) but this is about the size of your hand... and I just had to take a quick shot of the stuff on top

Yeah, the white paper and bounced flash trick works beautifully on product stuff.

I meant I wasn't really that good at positioning and angles and stuff like that.

Not to mention, I'm sure there are better ways to eliminate off color shadows and such.

But I'm happy with these. I think they look pretty good.

And the mask is insane. I can't get over how much better if feels to play in...

Oh, and I think I officially have the two most expensive hobbies in the universe... Digital Photography and Ice Hockey goalie...

what do you want pics of? The sheet of white paper draping off of my couch and onto my floor?

It's a piece of 48" roll paper rolled out from the floor to the couch on an angle.

Here's the exact roll I own. 48"x200', and I shoot off of the textured side to reduce reflections.

They also have similar rolls at b&h for roughly the same price  I'm getting one or a few soon. Right now I just use foam board, tissue paper, and home depot lights.

looks more like aluminized fiberglass... a product commonly sold as "white cf", "silver cf", or "silver kevlar"
