So the ammo crisis seems pretty steep...

I've been fortunate enough to come across some great deals. Some are Excellent deals I'd guess considering the circumstances...

    But when is enough, enough?

What do you feel comfortable stocking before you consider yourself/others a whore who hoards?

just some small talk, WMD seems a bit slow...

When you buy hundreds of hundreds of rounds with no intention of shooting them. My dad has been making quite a few ammo rounds around stores recently picking up a mix of defensive and target rounds. Probably has picked up about 500-600 .40, .45, and 9mm over the last week or so, but I just came to visit and he knew we were going to the range to bang off quite a few. That and he is making sure he has enough defensive stuff to last a bit in case he can't find more, but he probably only has about 150-200 defensive rounds.

The problem arises when you go to Walmart and pick up 1000 rounds because they have it and you know you don't really need to add it to the other 1000 rounds sitting in the closet

Fuck you, I have 500 rounds of .22 left. I haven't seen any in stock for months :hs: I hope it comes soon.

If I could find ammo, I'd be shooting 4-5k 9mm a year, maybe more.

I don't wanna cut into your stash but if you're cool with it I'll take ya up on it. I'm getting desperate  I have a can coming and no ammo to shoot.

    I wouldn't consider 10k of 22lr hoarding.

If I bring my sister, girl, etc to the range and let them shoot the 10/22 they usually go through the better part of a brick. I just bought a second 10/22 so 1k in a range trip is not out of the ballpark.

I just resorted to paying $20 for a brick of AE so I have a brick to give my sister with the 10/22 I bought her for her birthday coming up.

    The ammo crash is coming.

XM-193 simply is not intrinsically worth $400+. That price is purely driven by excessive demand which will wane significantly once spending limits are reached, or when demand naturally drops off as the ammo whores finally have their fill. Apparently, this happened before in the '94 ban... but this current rush has been a lot worse than '94 based on retailer's comments concerning the sales of rifles and parts.

I've got enough reloading components to last maybe a few more months. I've not changed my shooting habbits due to the demand for ammo.

I just hope that the ammo crash comes sooner rather than later.

Do you plan on shooting all of those in the next few months? If so then good for you, that isn't hoarding. If no, then yes, I'm sure in 3 months you could have found more ammo without having to purchase it all at that one time. I consider someone hoarding if they purchase without any plan to shoot it in the reasonable near future. I don't care if it's 100 rounds or 10,000 rounds. Letting 5k rounds of surplus sit in your basement while someone else wants some to shoot tomorrow is selfish. If you don't plan on using it reasonably soon, don't buy it

The people hoarding out of some kind of fear have created a new kind of hoarder: the people that shoot through a moderate amount of ammo that would normally purchase it as they go but since they can't find it are forced to stockpile some or be forced to curtail their shooting habits.

    I've been hoarding then...

    I bought

1000 rds of Winchester Frangible .40
700 rds Federal American Eagle .40
900 rds in Wolf .40 - reloads - Canadian, not the import corrosive stuff

I have a line on 1000 more rounds a guys selling of the Wolf...it was a group buy that got backed out...the price can't be beat for cheap range ammo, even in a few months the prices won't drop that much...

The Frangible was another second had purchase, but looking at it's ballistics and intended use I'm kinda giving the :hsd:. The Frangible stuff isn't exactly range stuff so I guess it's hoarding...

As soon as Time Magazine touted Obama as the next president 2 years before the election, I knew it was time to stock up. I bought a box pr two of federal bulk .22 ,.223, and a box or two of 9mm and .45acp every payday til the election..... I should be good for a while.
