    How's the accuracy with those?

I would be way paranoid shooting that corrosive bulgy stuff out of an AR. I usually just fill my bathtub up with hot soapy water and let my AK it sit for a while, rinse it, and then take it apart and let it air dry. CLP everything and put it back together.

They're hard to find and often sold out. I've heard that .223 mags might work

Interesting idea, I remember seeing this announced on S&W's website a while back.

I'm pretty sure regular ar15 mags work but you can only fit in 26 or 28 rounds.

Nope, it's corrosive, and you have to buy special mags for that SW 545, you can only fit 10 rounds or so in the standard m16 mags without them getting fucked up. With corrosive shit just spray some Windex down the barrel and run a bore snake through it a couple times it gets rid of the salt.

A buddy of mine has one that he's run several hundred rounds through over the past few months. No cleaning, no rust so far. It's chrome-lined, so it's not going to rust the bore like C&R rifles sometimes do with their corrosive ammo. It's the primers that are corrosive, not the powder. It's not like the whole gas-charge is loaded with corrosive salts. A modicum of cleaning every now and then will probably take care of things.

I bought one of the full rigs, and accuracy was fine. Afterwards, I ran it out with hot water and cleaned it as normal. The surplus ammo is filthy, and takes a while to get all cleaned out, but it's worth it for the savings. I don't plan on playing gi-joe, so having a gun to plink with is fine.

Hmmm...Was planning on buying a new toy tomorrow, maybe if I don't find something, I'll get one of these instead (I need a cheap-to-fire AR upper anyhow, this 6.8spc just isn't cutting it :o )

Just got this today. I've got 5 more mags coming from Palmetto, and a tin of ammo from AIM.

What strikes me as odd, is that it came with a new hammer spring. Are you normally suppose to switch out trigger springs when swapping uppers?

Plan to be out shooting on Sunday.

I'm going to guess the hammer spring it came with is stronger because the military surplus 5.45 primers are hard. In for range report.

Seems reasonable to me, I'd try it without changing first.

Go ahead and change the spring, you will anyway. Those that have tried it with the original AR spring report many fail to fires due to light primer strike. Accuracy is good. Now that the 5.45 is going to be much more in demand, the price will increase, so I recommend you buy it all up now. I have 5k rounds and plan to order another 5k. The CProducts mags work fine in this rifle, even though they seem cheap. Standard AR mags will work with about 26 rounds loaded into it.

As far as the corrosiveness of the ammo, don't worry about it. I shoot Bulgarian corrosive through my -74s and don't clean them...and they're just fine. The AK is more succeptible to rust than the AR, so don't worry about the AR. Might want to clean the stainless gas tube periodically with compressed air to get the crap out, but that's it. If you want, buy some non corrosive commercial ammo and run a box through at the end of your range trip. The non corrosive will burn out the remainder of the corrosive materials in the rifle.

Don't hesitate to buy the SW upper, it's a quality piece and super cheap to operate! :hsd:
