i understand HKS products have a good reputation in the import community as high quality parts. However, i'd liek to hear stories from individuals. I am thinknig of maknig my car consist of mostly HKS aftermarket parts such as:

    HKS-
    up pipe
    downpipe
    hiper catback
    SSQV bov
    EVC electronice boost controller
    Type 1 turbo timer
    Intake

not to mention a turbo xs unichip

had the HKS Hiper on my TTZ, sounded great, had to bend the hangers a tiny bit to make the pipes even.

HKS makes nice parts thats for sure. but they're pricey. you should go all out and get the Titanium cat-back haha

I'm not a big fan of the HKS air filter though

haha i wish....the titanim is gorgeous, but it is basically all show, and a lot mroe money. The hiper is the titanium minues the carbon fiber muffler w/ titanium tip.

the air filters may need replaced mroe than average, but their filtering and flow abilities are superb

thats what you hear, but i've read numerous air filter comparos in japanese car mags, and the HKS never seems to make any more power than other filters that are often cheaper. the ones that made the most power IIRC were still cone style, just a bit more fancy (like the blitz SUS)

    :dunno: who knows though

Im pretty sure the ti has larger piping then the hyper.

  10. what exactly is the difference between a regular bov and a super sequential one? i was planning on getting a nice bov but then i dont want to lose too much boost. but i love the sound!

    tein S-tech springs
    hyper ground wires
hks up pipe/turbo xs turboback/scorpion muffler
    TXS UTEC
TX Stage 4 w/ txs FMIC and nitrous spray

i'm glad you decided against that POS hks downpipe. it would be fine if you had an external wastegate, but a plate blocking the internal one? on an aftermarket exhaust? please...

your mods look pretty good. the tein springs are SOFT though :big grin:

i have the hks bov, btw. it's a NICE unit. i currently uninstalled the insert so it blows off extremely quiet, but that was just for a change of pace.

I'd be sure to go 3" all the way back, btw. the scorpion muffler is nice and all, but tapers down to 2.5".

oh yeah, my mods (to give you an idea)
pde up and downpipes, blitz nur spec touring, blitz sus, samco ic hoses, hks bov, prodrive springs, and other stuff.

prodrives are a lot stiffer than teins, and give less of a drop.

    Here.
geting parts from one manufacturer exclusively (or near that) is :greddy: if you're not sponsored.

im assuming you have a 02 or greater wrx...
    imo,
    sus intake
any catless uppipe. (stock usdm sti works well) or mate with a set of gt spec headers for nicer upper end and like stock spool...
godspeed downpipe (only if you want to go catless)
turbo xS tbe with either flavor of axle back... (for catted use race cats)
    utec,
worx tuning bov, (recirculats some of the air so you dont run rich)
    perrin oil catch can.
unless you upgrade to a bigger turbo, you will actually find the fmic adds a fair ammount of lag.. maybe get the sti tmic or the turbo xs one (questionable fitment)

or if you cant live with out the mean look up front, turboxs or perrin fmic with water or co2 spray... (NO3 is mucha $$ refills bro)

the thing i dont like about the hks, the pipe hangs down below the stock hanger positions.. so you but scoot over speed bumps...

i went with the borla 3" it sounds wicked, and was 1/2 the $$ of the hks..

i have the hks carbon ti on my wrx and love it. The fitment is great and the only time ive ever scraped it was when i had my crappy perrin springs (really soft) and 3 other peopel in my car while going over a pretty tall speed bump. Now that i have coilovers (hks hipermax 2's) ive never came close to scraping the exhaust, also i have kartboy exhaust hangers so that pretty much limits all exahust movement of the canister. The exhaust is pretty expensive new but i got it used for $500 so it wasnt that bad and the sound is awesome.

the fitment is great, i just like my tip to tuck right up against the bumper notch..
    it's a great looking/sounding exhaust..
i was going to get one, but i scoped out a few and personally didnt like the gap.

HKS hiper is cool stuff. I don't have one but my buddy does. HKS makes some nice turbos too, if you're ever looking to upgrade the turbo.

I have the HKS SSQ blow off valves and HKS turbo timer and I love their products but I would recommend the Greddy Profec B II boost controller instead, I think its much better.
