    What should I buy next?

    My current handguns:

    HK USP Compact 9x19
    SIG P239 9x19
    Colt Trooper III .357 Magnum
    Kahr PM9 9x19

I'm thinking of either looking for a good condition P7M8 or doing the 1911 thing. Wouldn't be my primary carry, though I would carry it on occasion.

I know the P7 is a lot more expensive than an entry level 1911, but I would probably do something like ~$400 for a Springfield Mil-Spec, then do sights, grips, etc, etc ending up with about the same in it as the P7.

Jeez, I wish i had the bankroll for a p7m8 :hs:

And I'd go 1911, you already have a smallish 9mm in the PM9. Try something new.

Hell build an AR for that kind of money. :big grin:

    Why would I do that?

Other than being rare, it's mechanically the same or slightly inferior to the P7. :hsd:

Well, I'd say get a 1911. Since you have a fetish with 9mm, Para Ordanance makes 1911's that are chambered in 9mm, .40 and .45. A 9mm 1911 kinda takes it away from a traditional stance but it might fit in to what you're looking for.

BTW, CDNN Investments has on of the P7's on sale. I don't remember which one specifically.

    The only reason I'm considering a 1911 is to have a .45, I wouldn't get a 9mm 1911.

I'll check out CDNN, they usually have pretty good deals.

It makes more sense to expand my horizons and get a .45 since I already own 3 9mm's, but the P7 is just so fucking cool :big grin:

Well, with that choice made, here's the real question. Which 1911? Would you be happy with just a Springfield Mil-Spec? I mean, there's Colt, Para Ordnance, S&W, Kimber, Caspian, Les Baer, STI/SVI, Charles Daly, Wilson...

    Or, Bersa :big grin:

I am also going to have to say go with a 1911 and spend the extra dough for a Kimber if you can swing it.

Negative if I get a Kimber it will be either a TLE II or a Tactical Custom II.

Never checked on one, I figured they would be more expensive due to being pretty rare. I found a NIB P7M8 in a local gun store. $1329 :hs:

The only thing I really don't like about the PSP is the magazine release location. I know the odds of having to reload in a defense situation is pretty slim, but I still like being able to do it quickly.

If I get a 1911, I'll get a Mil-Spec and modify it. The most attractive feature of the 1911 platform, to me, is the ability to customize it.

If I just wanted a good .45 to carry, I would buy a USP .45

you can't do anything to customize the front sight on a SA milspec. that means no night sights. that's why i'd never carry a milspec. not that i'd carry a 1911 anyways, but a milspec would be at the bottom of my list.

i do want one eventually though, because they are awesome, and have fantastic triggers, especially for $400.

I own both a P7M8 and a 1911 compact (Colt). In the years I've owned them (around 13 years for the P7 and around 10 year for the 1911), the P7 has proven superior for me. I can shoot more accurately with the P7, and I've NEVER had a stoppage of any kind in it, whereas I've had numerous stoppages with the 1911, including one which took me almost an hour to clear. Make now doubts about it, I really enjoy the 1911, I've since had some minor customization (new trigger, new recoil spring plug), but the P7M8 is special. Slim, accurate, and extremely safe to carry.

*Disclaimer* Before the flaming starts, I realize that my 1911 is a Compact and not the full size version, but most 1911 issues carry over to the fullsize weapon also. Oh, and I'll take my fullsize 1911 customized by Clark, thank you very much. :)
