About four months ago I weighed about 199 pounds @ 5’11”. I hit that weight right around the time I got promoted, this promotion meant that I got a major discount at this amazing gym (the Orlando Magic train there) across the street. It is $400 to sign up and $80 a month. With my discount it comes down to only $20 a month. You would have to be an absolute moron not to take advantage of this discount.

I immediately changed my eating habits and I started to do cardio five days a week. I only drink water and 100% fruit juice. I eat two to three servings of fruits and vegetables a day while eating only chicken and the occasional steak with brown rice or pasta. Essentially I have tried to take all the poisons out of my life while getting all of my vitamins from fruits and veggies.

Today I weighed myself when I got up and am down to 179 lbs. I lost twenty pounds in about four months without the help of supplements, starving myself or drugs. I feel 500% better than I did four months ago. I was a size 36 waist I am now a size 32.

I don’t want to sound like I am gloating because I’m not, I am just very proud and I wanted to share with some of you. I am going to try and lose about nine more pounds and then I am going to start lifting to just “lean” out my body. I have no desire to gain mass; I want to stay lean and flexible.

    Thank you for reading,
    Derik

5'11" and 170 is pretty skinny :noes: About 4 months ago, I was in pretty much the same boat as you--i'm 6'0" and was almost 200. I dropped down to 180, then put a lot of effort into building muscle. Not sure if I would call it "bulking" or not, but in 2 months I've gained 12 lbs with no noticable increase in body fat :)

    Thanks!

    :)

    :h5:

    Good for you, that's awesome.

I mainly just want to tighten my body up, I have no desire to get bigger. I am going to continue my cardio while doing a lot of lifting with light weights.

I have been talking to someone I work with who is in just ridiculous shape. I am having him create a diet/workout routine to help ease me in to the lifting.

I understand, but if muscle burns fat, then more muscle burns more fat, so it's easier to lose said fat...right?

I see where you're going with it and to tell you the truth I agree. I think I am being stubborn since I set a personal goal and I don't want to stop my cardio until I hit that weight.

You'll still need to lift heavy to get the "lean and hard" look I think you want. I'm guessing something like Ryan Reynolds or Brad Pitt correct?

Edit: But great job on the cut man. I'm looking to get down to a 32- myself.

Awesome, man. Congrats. Just goes to show that with dedication and a proper diet, it's possible to get the results you want. Keep it up.

Congrats, but just so you know, fruit juice is basically just pure sugar.

Yea, I know. Sometimes I want to drink something with some flavor so I think fruit juice is better than drinking a can of soda.

The only problem with all these pictures of shirtless guys is that I'm at work and I'm sure everyone that glances at my computer screen when I'm on here things I'm flaming.

Wanted to let you know it's $16 to take a guest for a day. Kind of high if you ask me.

Sorry it took so long, I forgot all about this thread.
