  1. The fact that this is my first post should say something. So if you could give me some advice I'd appreciate it.

HIIT will kick my ass but I won't have to do it as often and I hear it shoots your metabolism through the roof.

I used to run 3 miles a day though, regularly. I don't think I'm in that shape anymore.

Do you think I should run normally until I'm at least back to where I was before: or do HIIT exclusively as it's supposedly the best for weight loss.

I like running, I know alot of people don't. But I don't think I should put as much focus on running x miles a day anymore. What do you think.

if you can handle hiit, why not

  4. :dunno: Don't want to burn out in the first few weeks back in the gym I suppose. Dedication overcomes all but seriously... HIIT can kick your ass if you're not ready and make it easy to give up.

Yes and No, HIIT will kick your ass but when you burn more fat than cardio you will keep wanting to do it, on my HIIT weeks I lost about 2lbs more per a week vs 1hr of Cardio, also getting your workout in 10mins > Running for an Hour

I prefer 30-60 minutes a day, I end up burning a lot more calories that way than with HIIT.

Well I guess it doesn't matter in my case because I can't sprint with my hamstring anyway.

and HIIT on an elliptical/bike just isn't the same.

I'm trying to incorporate the HIIT into my bike workout

I bike for 16 minutes every time, I just rotate between level 4 to level 6 every 3 minutes, while keeping the RPM's the same

I agree, I do at least 30 mins of jogging (8.5 minute miles) after I lift and 45 minutes to an hour of jogging on non lifting days and I have seen the weight just drip off... Hiit is great but for those who are used to just jogging or nothing at all, they may not be able or ready to recover from the sprinting of HIIT and therefore cut the workouts short.

    Thats not HIIT......

HIIT would be at whatever level you want at 90rpm for 60secs than 150rpm for 60secs

i've been doing steady long distance for a little over a month now and I am shedding pounds

Once that plateaus I will start some HIIT

  14. Right I lost alot of weight from doing long distance as well...

but the rate of weight loss for HIIT is said to be insane.
