right now I'm doing purs lifting routine in the evening and some mixed resistance steady state cardio on the elliptical every morning. My weightloss has kind of hit a plateau and I was playing with the idea of replacing 3 of my morning cardio sessions with hiit instead. two questions, 1. is this a good way to break through a plateau? and 2. what does a hiit training session look like?

Eventually you will bottom out doing the same thing time and time again.

A basic HIIT routine will look like this.

    Jog 1:30 / Sprint 30 seconds x 5-12 times

as you progress you will shorten your jogging time by 5-10 seconds and replace it with sprinting time.

The actual goal of HIIT is to keep you at a target heart rate in which your body uses glycogen.
