Anybody have a good routine/periodization for training for the Highland Games. I've got a year, I want to compete next summer.

the same type of periodization for any weight event would be fine. Google for an Olympic Throwing routines.

I plan on doing one next summer also, I just plan on rigging up all the implements and every so often take a day and go toss shit around in a field in addition to my normal lifting.

I can tell you right now that technique with the implements will by 11tybillion times more important than how strong you are.

I know, throwing is very technique based, especially shit like the hammer.

a pro strong man is also an elite athlete in his own right. But throwing a caber or a shotput without knowing what your doing isn't going to go so well.
