I want to build more strength, and whatever definition that comes with it. But I also have to keep my speed and flexibility where it is, if not improve it, for my fighting.
What are your guy's opinions on the subject? Mainly that high weight/fewer reps will indeed make for big, bulky, "strong" muscles. But compromises speed, suppleness and flexibility.

i don't see how getting stronger makes you slower. stronger = better no? size will depend on what you eat

all i know is low weight high reps gives you tone.

Low weight and high reps targets your long-snap aka endurance muscles while High weight low reps targets your short-snap aka power muscles. Long-snap muscles will not go away if you stop working out. Short-snap muscles will deteriorate faster if a routine is not kept up.

Bottom line- Its good to do both types of lifting

For fighting you should definately do lower weight more reps

    I try mid reps :dunno:

Im currently trying to bench 130lbs (yes yes), but 4-7 reps is the absolute max i could get out of it per set. So im just going to keep doing the lower reps of 130lbs, until its possible to complete more reps :dunno:

Its my chest workout tommorow, so hopefully i could get 3 sets of 7 reps out of it. :hs:

Getting stronger doesn't make you slower. Do some olympic weight training if you want explosiveness+strength.

Why not do 4 sets with a mix

set 1- 20 reps with a light weight
set 2- 6 reps with the heaviest weight you can manage
set 3- 8 reps with heavy weight
set 4- 15 reps with light weight
