high squaters and spinal compresion

    any of you high squatters ran into any issues with spinal issues/compression? sometimes I get a slight pain sometimes I get nothing. I probably need to move to a low squat bar position, I'm having issues doing it though.

    you mean bar position or squat depth?


    I squat with a low bar position but only go to about 12" above parrallel.

  5. Do you guys with monster quads not go to full (hip/knee parallel) parallel? Just heavy ass weights with like 1/2 squats?

    Never had a problem, I cant get comfortable with the bar positioned low.

    I am a huge pussy that can only squat 315 for maybe two. I rest the bar maybe mid-trap and on my shoulders. Is that cosidered high?

    If so, I've never had any spinal compression issues...or at least not that i know of.

    Low bar is more comfortable for me because my rear delts bulge out like a maotherfucker. However, I squat highbar.

    Most i've done high bar has been 365, never really felt a big "compression" :dunno:

    I actually prefer it to low-bar

    im the same way, i've tried low bar and just cant get comfortable above 315.

    i go high bar, never had any issues as long as i keep it in the right spot

    went to a lower bar position today. seemed to work ok. im still trying to adjust to the height difference i have between my shocks and chucks. im just tall enough for one rack

    I stop a hair before parallel and also a hair before I lock out, you can do slightly more weight, but just don't go bragging about it online unless you provide detailed leg span measurements. ;)
