high protein diets can cause constipation.

up your fiber and make sure you're taking multi-v's as mineral deficiencies can also be a cause

With your oat meal mix a third cup of flax seed or flax seed meal, it is good for you, and you will leave the toilet impressed at what you did....

oh and with your oatmeal mix in some raisins with the flaxseed stuff. You should be getting enough fiber to make massive dumps once a day.

    are you cutting cals?

because otherwise that is a bit odd, especially with your water intake.

note- switching to high protein can cause disturbances in your gut flora, so you may want to add a multi-dophilus or eat yogurt with live cultures. Disruption in gut flora, cutting cals or no, could be part of the reason for your constipation, especially if you are getting any kind of abdominal bloating.

yes i am cutting cals, pretty dramaticly too, i do eat yogurt but without the active cultures since im tryin to keep the carb intake down. I will look into that, i am getting my supplements today or tomorrow so i should be upping my fiber intake alot shortly.

this is probably the primary reason for your constipation, just not enough waste product to initiate a movement.

eat a couple cans of greens. kale, mustard, turnip, any of these. it'll clear you out within 24 hours. i'm talkin "swat came into my house and direspected my family" type clearing out. works everytime when i get backed up.

In addition to the fiber, you might also try caffeine. Coffee or a caffeine-laced supplement first thing in the morning can work wonders.

Iv got IBS-C and manage to eat a high protein diet. The best thing i can recommend is metamucil, its just a fibre supplement, and is harmless. It should help your situation.

You don't need to use fiber pills or any of that crap. Just eat high fiber stuff and the problem will correct itself.
