? I've found quite a few Ford Explorer's with around 100k miles in the area for ~$5000. The Explorer could do what I want it to do, but how reliable are they? When they break are they expensive to fix? Also, I test drove a '96 Jeep Cherokee today. It was the 4.0 w/4wd. I liked it, drove nice, except this particular one didn't want to stay running. After I turned on the A/C it would die at stop lights, then continued that behavior after I turned off the A/C. The transmission shifted kinda rough and took it's time, waiting longer to shift than I would have expected.
