A&P high contrast B&W v.texture/dof

    Just got back from NC visiting my mom for a week. While we were there we went to the Lazy 5 ranch, which is kind of like a drive through animal park.... they also have some old barns, and I wanted to do some experimenting with high contrast B&W's, textures, and dof....
    all taken with the 20D w/tamron 28-75 f/2.8

    they're pretty cool, but the bokeh almost looks like motion blur...

    My eyes are like "holy shit! that nail is moving FAST!!!"

    the last one is reaaaaally sharp! :cool:

    quickest nail this side of the mississippi :cool:
    srsly though.. I think you get that effect because of the grain in the wood behind the nail... just a guess though.

    yeah, really impressed with the tamron.. pretty sharp even wide open.

    I have a bunch of photos from the Lazy 5...its about 30 min from me in Charlotte. I opened my sunroof of my Jeep, and the tall animals were coming after me! :noes:

    Those ostriches are brutal.
    we took the wagon ride this time. Our "driver" was pretty cool. into photography, so we talked gear :o

    not really mine either... but I saw some interesting textures, and it just kind of went from there. speaking of "not my things" just wait until I make my next post... flowers :hsugh:

    conversion was a process I picked up from a guy on FM.... it's basically adjusting the WB settings in grayscale in lightroom.....
