I was thinking we should start a thread for tips on reducing High BP. I have high blood pressure and am looking for tips as well.

As of right now I try to:

Reduce sodium intake (by avoiding eating out and frozen foods)
    Eating more fruits and vegetables
    Being more physically active

Does anyone know of any supplements or any other tips for reducing bp.

    Drink more water.
Most bp medications have diuretic properties or are combined with diuretics.

Hawthorn berries are supposed to be good for blood pressure.

I have the opposite problem. I have low blood pressure and sometimes feel like I am going to pass out because the blood doesn't get to my brain momentarily.

can't really. Doctor just said that when I feel it coming on just sit down for a second.

Its kind of a fun feeling, first you get really confused, then your eyes slowly black out(thats usually the part when I know its coming on), then you all of the sudden lost all strength and just kinda fall down. I hit my head on the wood part of my bed once when I passed out.

I have the same thing. I'm 55/120 usually and it sucks since I'm tall, especially when standing up if I haven't eaten in a while. Never blacked out entirely though but I often see a ''black veil''.

Some people don,t respond to dietary sodium too so it's not always a solution for those with high blood pressure. I tried to eat a lot of it and it did nothing :o

55/120? Your heart has reversed systolic and diastolic functions?

it also doesnt help that you take IGF, which is notorius for causing intercranial pressure to go up, it affects some people worse than others, but if you start gettin bad nosebleeds, headaches, that kinda stuff, stop using the igf pronto.

That is a good blood pressure though. Low enough to make most people feel lightheaded would be 90 systolic or lower..........unless you are just dehydrated as hell and suffer from orthostatic hypotension, thus causing you to feel lightheaded when you stand up.

Aren't omega 3's good for high BP?

My GP told me (I went in with high BP, long story, but it ended up being temporary stress) that the only surefire way she's seen to reduce it is diet and excercise.

The systolic one is a bit near the number considered low (which is 50 I believe). It's probably ok for a normal person but I'm 6'4" so I get sometimes dizzy when I stand up fast.

My doctor's number one recommendation was to reduce my sodium intake. She also said I should lower the intensity of my workouts (yeah........). But fuck it. I went home, drank a gallon of soy sauce to wash down some drols and shot a gram of EQ.
