hiding files?

    does anyone know how to hide files on osx? i know in windows you can put a file in a file and then have a password for hidden files. can you do a password on a mac?

    you have to do something like put a period before and after the file.. but to hide your porn, what you should do is create a new drive named like apple.. hidden somwhere and make it password protected..and bam.

    i have a folder i created with Terminal called .private

    the only bad part is you have to open it with terminal

    i know someone on here knows the commands i can't remember.

    to open a folder, type:
    open foldername

    to hide porn...

    Use Disk Utility to create ohhh say 50GB disk image and password protect it. Name that image ".something"

    Profit?

    oh right to open the file
    open terminal
    type "open " and then drag the file into the terminal window, this should automatically type in the path name for you.

    then hit return

    then wackit.
