Today I managed to bench 225 for the first time, feels great. It was my first day on 5X5 routine, I was supposed to bench to a maximum of 205 on my last set, which I did. Anyway, 2 friends of mine who have been lifting at the same thing happened to be there when I arrived, and they wanted to try lifting 2 plates for fun after their workout. We all finished at the same time, and to the bench we went. I knew I could do at least 1 rep, but I managed to pull off 4 full reps :eek3:.

I had been doing 5X5 on the bench for about 5 weeks, and I started bulking at the same time. My progress has been awesome so far, I hope it stays the same for awhile. At the beginning of summer, my best bench ever had been 165X10 for 3 series, but I'd always need a spotter's help for the last 2-3 on the final set. The funny thing is I have been lifting for a little bit more than 2 years, and the progress I'm making now is almost better than my noob gains. I wish I had understood the power of the almighty food earlier :(

Yep, 3 plates is next :naughty:

How long should it take to get to 3 plates, considering I'm eating a lot of good food, and doing 5X5?

Figure this: it's 90lbs away, and at 5lbs a week (which is a lot for most) that's 18 weeks.
