I imagine you guys already probably know this since most everyone here is fairly privvy to who has what the cheapest, but in case you didn't:

    oh sorry. $850

  4. I can think of more than a few uppers I'd rather have than that upper.

Yeah, that's what I heard. I didn't really look a whole lot cause I'm not in the market. Did perhaps seem like a interesting deal though if it isn't shit, and you want a piston upper.

Me too. But I can also think of a list of bolt guns I'd rather have than another AR, and I imagine some here would much prefer to take solace in jacking off on a new piece of "DUTY RATED" LaRue gear.

To each their own I suppose :)

Turnbolt or repeater? I'm good at this game.

  12. I don't know. I feel like I'm aimlessly adrift in a sea of rifle choices.

I'd love to build a 1911 if the cost wasn't so close to just buying one

I've honestly never shot one. The amount of hype and "DUTY DUTY DUTY EXTREME!!!!" stuff that surrounds them is kinda a turn-off to me. Best I can tell they don't seem to be any different until you get down into the short stuff with cans on it. If it honestly kept me from cleaning much, I'd be interested, but I hear they don't really even make large strides there.

    :rofl::rofl:

I've never heard it put like that......

I still have this strange jonesin' for a 22K-Hornet on a 77/22 platform. Though admittedly, I want it to do terrible things to cute furry creatures with, which may/may not be your sorta thing.

By a shitty/cheap Springer/Kimber and go from there?

I just don't really see the justification of the price. and for the argument that there is no fouling, that's bullshit, IMHO

    I meant from a blank.

  17. I forgot where I heard it, but one guy put it best after running a bunch of rounds through a piston AR. He said something to the effect of "it worked really well. And by that I mean it worked as well as the $8 gas tube it replaced."

    ding ding ding

  19. I really don't know anywhere around here to shoot little creatures. I'm thinking of a .22 bolt gun for >200 yard plinking. I've heard good things about the CZ 452 rifles, and my dad has a 77/22 that I really like. The 77/22 is more money than the 452 though, and I don't know which way I'd go.

Yep, kinda what I can gather from what I've heard. Might make sense on a .mil level when dealing with cost/benefit kinda stuff, but I'm not them. That pretty much sums up my feelings with all those crazy chassis/railsystems that are the new hotness for long guns.

  21. I read the barfcom precision rifle subforum when I get bored. For the most part it's basically barfcom with bolt guns. Everyone there is looking to get into LR shooting for the first time, and probably 80% of them are interested in using an AICS, and most of them want something like .300WM or .338LM.

plus (this is coming from someone who doesn't really know much about the piston system for an AR versus an AK), I can't imagine how the huge price increase is justified. like MG said, the gas tube replacement is all you'd really need. not like recoil is THAT big of a fucking deal.

Dude, I'm fucking loving my 452. I tripped that DE a couple days ago, and should be able to use some of that $$ to finish it off.

I will have successfully taken a $175 barreled action, and sunken probably 10x that into it. I do not know how these things spiral out of control so quickly :wtc:

I'm excited though.... Got a new trigger, and a new bipod to play with :bigthumb:

  24. Well, it's all proprietary parts (yet another reason I don't like piston ARs) that likely had significant development costs for a relatively small number of production units.
