I'll try to explain this as clearly as possible:

1.) Click on real player media links on c-span.org, they work fine, but my real player is outdated.

2.) upgrade real player to newest version.

3.) now, when i click on the links on c-span.org (link for reference ), on ANY browser, it gives the error message dialog box saying "rtsp is not a registered protocol."

any ideas on how to fix this?

Personally, I would ditch Real Player all together. I'm just not a huge fan of media players that report home. Google up "Real Alternative" when you get the chance. It's basically the codec you need to run Real Media files without the mess the of RealPlayer.

If you up to change, use the Windows Media feeds c-span.org offers...
