MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Georges St. Pierre remains on B.J. Penn's mind, it seems.

Penn rebounded from his loss to the UFC welterweight champion at UFC 94 in January by returning to the lightweight ranks to defend his 155-pound title against Kenny Florian at UFC 101. On Saturday, he will put his title on the line again against Diego (Nightmare) Sanchez in the main event of UFC 107.

"I feel like I'm back," Penn said Wednesday. "I feel like I never left."

Penn, who has not lost as lightweight in almost eight years, is fighting for his legacy. But a third fight with GSP, who also won a split decision over the Hawaiian at UFC 58, is still on his to-do list.

"I have an obligation to defend the lightweight title, but I want another crack at St. Pierre, of course," he told reporters. "

Penn also has not made up with GSP coach Firas Zahabi, who is helping Florian prep for his UFC 107 fight with Clay Guida. The two exchanged barbs before the second St. Pierre fight.

"I don't really have much admiration for Firas because of all the stuff we got into it," he said.

But Penn is looking for a win over Sanchez to help ease the sting of the St. Pierre defeat.

"I just came off a loss in January. So I'm very hungry and I'm trying to salvage the year. ... I want to finish this year off good."

i agree. not that he wouldn't have a good shot at beating gsp, but I think at this point he has no need to do it. he is already a fucking legend

Can't really blame him...I think that all true fighters wanna avenge their losses. Did Rampage give up after getting KO'd by Wand twice?

I'm not interested in seeing a third fight between them either but you can't really hate on him for wanting another chance to fight him.

GSP has packed on more muscle and is stronger than ever. he'll man handle BJ penn a lot worse than the last time.

needs to prove he can hang with the big boys first before he gets another shot at GSP

Fitch or Alves would be a nice warmup match

He needs to clear out the LW division before focusing on another weight class full time.

Im pretty sure I'd be the same winning the mundials after 3 years of training, having technical as fuck boxing and learnt wrestling at an insane pace.

This guy has insane talent and is pushing himself to the limit against someone he hasn't beaten yet, that deserves respect?

    what have you done?

    You are an idiot.

In 2004 BJ Penn goes to 170 to beat Matt Hughes after beating Gomi.

In 2005 he fights Rodrigo Gracie at 185 and wins a decision.

He then fights and loses a DECISION to Lyoto Machida who weighed 220lbs.

He then went back to 185 and beat Renzo Gracie .

So yes, I think after he clears out the LW division he should get a chance to fight who ever he wants.

except you didnt hear rampage talking about how he wants to fight wanderlei days before he is supposed to fight hendo or forrest

also i don't see the question posted but maybe he was baited into saying it kind of like, would you like to fight georges again

Nope. He wants to fight him again. He has a new drive to fight, new coaches, new training camp, new strength and conditioning, etc.

He took him to a split decision the first time (that most on paper had BJ winning) and got beat badly with a LOT of controversy the second time.

There is nothing wrong with wanting/aspiring to fight/beat the best fighter in the world. And Georges St. Pierre is most certainly the best fighter in the world.

Clear it out? Who is left after Diego, Gray Maynard?

I'd love to see that, also I wouldnt mind seeing BJ Penn vs GSP again, how often do we get to see top 10 P4P best fighters matched up.

C'mon man, you're using his past accomplishments from 4-5 years ago to make a case that he deserves a shot at somebody that he got tooled by, not once, but twice, and the second time it wasn't even close, it was just BJ getting fucking pummeled to near death for 4 rounds. Get serious man.

If BJ wants another WW title shot, he should have to go through the ranks like everybody else, and you know what, there's very little chance he gets by Koscheck, Rumble or even the smaller names like Semtex, Hardy etc...
