I'd pick up 10-20 hicap mags for all of your firearms. Why are you buying a full 9mm AR and multiple 9mm lowers instead of getting ones marked multi caliber?

    My list is as follows:
    Rifles
Finish current AR build in 5.56
2 stripped AR lowers, marked multi caliber, one rifle & one pistol
    5.45 rifle

    Pistols
    CZ-75
    some 1911
    Sig Sauer P229
    HK P7 PSP

    Shotguns
    Saiga 12 :o
    Remington 870

    12 hicap mags per firearm
    3-5k rds of ammo (5.56, 7.62, 9mm, 45ACP, 5.45)

I dont make nearly enough money. :wtc:

i'm going to be getting 2-3 stripped AR lowers next week, i already have two AK kits (7.62 and 5.45) so i'll be getting receivers for those.

high cap mags are already out of the question :hs: so i need to start getting what i can.

 my dad is even going to build an AR15

I don't know how to build a stripped lower. I think I would need special tools and stuff.

A set of pliers, punches, and some tape. There's a fairly good step-by-step writeup on arfcom.

Uh, yeah. Look at the laws for my shitty state of Illinois. Handgun ban in Chicago, hicap mag restrictions, required registration with the state police for a Firearms Owner ID (FOID card), no NFA weapons, et al.

He will restrict the hell out of which military-like hardware we can own, restrict capacity, require registration to buy firearms or ammo, and who knows what else.

    Yup.

From the Chicago Tribune: "I believe we need to renew--not roll back--this common sense gun law," Obama said. - In reference to the 1994 AWB.

He's also been quoted as saying the reason it failed was that it wasn't strict or specific enough. :noes:

    He's for a complete ban on semi-autos.

If he gets that, what do you think will follow after that? All bolt-action sniper rifles and tactical muzzle loaders and dangerous over/unders.

I personally look at it the other way, even in the state of Illinois the antis haven't been able to push through an awb, magazine ban, etc. Now we have heller on our side too. You think they'll be able to push through draconian gun laws nationwide that they can't even get pass in IL?

I don't own any NFA items currently but I'm seriously considering buying my first. What all do you need before actually making the purchase?

Able to buy a firearm under current federal and state laws and see if your state allows NFA items.

While Heller is a great step forward, it only guarantees the right to bear arms...not to bear semi-auto arms or the ammo that accompanies them. Heller's case specifically stated that a license to own firearms as well as registration are reasonable limits, and that restricting weapons currently in use by our military is well with the govt's authority.

You better believe that Obama will translate that to mean anything thats not single-shot and fired by a flint-lock.

Heller specifically protects weapons that are in common use as being the weapons the civilian militia could be expected to have. The ar15 defines common, it is probably the top selling gun in the US. It will of course take time to sort out in courts but I think the end result you'll see is that NFA will stay but assault weapons bans on regular semi-autos are dead as can be just like the dc ban on autoloading handguns.

The facts remain though for as gun control friendly as IL is, the antis haven't been able to push those things through here. I don't see any reason to think the national climate is friendly to them at this time either.
