For some odd reason my comp would not keep norton or zonealarm up when I would try to maximize it. So I went to safe mode and updated and scanned my comp and fixed 2 viruses. But for some reason norton and zonealarm still will not maximize, they would, only for a few secs and shutdown. Zonealarm doesn't even run? I checked with norton's antivirus and another one online and could not find anything. I updated my windowsxp and scanned the registry and everything is fine? Lol since zonealarm won't start up, I can't get on the net in normal windows mode because zonealarm shuts any net activity? Anyone got any ideas?

    your first problem is zonealarm

my sister got the bright idea of installing it on my computer, got home, NOTHING would work, spent a bit trying to fix it, nothing, called tech support (this was before I became one of them :squint: ), no one could help me, had to do a restore...

    firewall-less > cat-poop > zonealarm

that is all...oh ya and I am not saying run firewall-less, but if it came down to it between firewall and zonealarm, i'll take my chances with the h4x0r'z

When you say you updated your XP did you run refresh from the CD or just do the web updates?

If I were in your situation I'd go with the person above and just wipe the drive and start fresh. Buy a router to add on some protection.

What happens if you try to install ZoneAlarm again and run a Repair?

Installed ZA on over 10 computers - never had a problem. And it has saved my ass countless times.

Most likely you agreed to them without knowing. It's pretty hard to force something down ZA's throat without going out of your way and most viruses aren't directed.
