Seems like something is wrong with my xsi...

When I zoom in and try and take pictures it has a hard time focusing.

Sometimes I can hear it try and focus but it sounds very sluggish (like it doesn't have enough battery, but its fully charged).

Sometimes it just doesn't do anything at all.

It has no problem focusing when I'm not zoomed in.

    HELP

how close are you to the thing you are trying to focus on?

you may be closer than the minimum focusing distance for the lens.

    nope theres plenty of light.

only happens when I'm zoomed in and fairly close to the object. Farily close = 2ft-3ft away.

I'm not. minimum focusing distance I believe is ~10inches...I'm a couple feet away and it doesn't focus.

does your subject have anything for it to actually focus on? Point of contrast? Texture?
