Running Win7 RC and trying to install the new COD [email protected] patch 1.6. Keep getting this error.

After googling for literally two hours I have tried numerous things.

I have downloaded the same file 5 times from different servers.
Tried to install it through my network (patch was on another PC).
    Unassociated CAB files with Winrar.
Did a system restore in case something got hosed in the last few days.
    Adjusted Memory in Boot.ini file.
Took out RAM and tried with one stick.
Updated all drivers (sound, video, etc.)
    Windows Update is current.

i'm probably leaving some things out but my head hurts from all of this now.

    Any other suggestions?

This is probably a dumb question, but do you have the other patches installed up to this point?

    Not a dumb question.

Yes, I have been playing this game since it came out. I have updated all patches accordingly. Just reinstalled Win7 ~1month ago and have been playing it ever since.

Man, I saw that error when I recently reloaded my PC with Windows 7, I wish I could remember what the fix is, sorry. I think I reloaded the game to a different directory ran a registry cleaner and reinstalled all of the patches...

Have you tried setting the compatibility of the update file to WinXP?

Are you installing it locally or from a network share? Some installers have issues with referencing a UNC name

I've tried installing it locally on the same machine. Also on an external drive connected to the machine. And through my network while the file resided on another machine.

    Really pissing me off.
