I am currently trying to make a primitive browser friendly menu for the music on my file server. I know that there is software out there that already does what I want and more but I am more interested in doing this as a learning project.

The current directory structure is as follows

    Code:
    Artist01 Folder
     - Album01 Folder
       - Song01.mp3
       - Song02.mp3
       - Song03.mp3
       - Song04.mp3
       - AlbumCover.jpg (or gif/png)
       - Album.m3u
     - Album02 Folder
       - Song01.mp3
       - Song02.mp3
       - Song03.mp3
       - Song04.mp3
       - AlbumCover.jpg (or gif/png)
       - Album.m3u
     - Artist.m3u (compilation of all songs under Artist01 folder
    Artist02 Folder
     - Album01 Folder
       - Song01.mp3
       - Song02.mp3
       - Song03.mp3
       - Song04.mp3
       - AlbumCover.jpg (or gif/png)
       - Album.m3u
     - Album02 Folder
       - Song01.mp3
       - Song02.mp3
       - Song03.mp3
       - Song04.mp3
       - AlbumCover.jpg (or gif/png)
       - Album.m3u
     - Artist.m3u (compilation of all songs under Artist02 folder

If possible I would like to create a program that generates a list of artist folders on the left menu/frame. Upon clicking the artist it would bring up the list of albums to the right with an image (if one is stored) with the m3u below the image and then the list of songs in case I wanted to listen to just one.

If needed I can create an image of the intended layout but for now here's an ascii layout:

    Code:

    Menu 1 | Menu 02 (right)
               | Arist01
    Artist01 | Artist01Complete.m3u
               |
    Artist02 | Album Cover Image.jpg
               | Album.m3u
    Artist03 |
               | Song01.mp3
               | Song02.mp3

As I said the point of this would be a learning lesson, but I don't even know where to begin. I am duly familiar with boolean logic, and I am html/css savvy and have been exposed to programming in only the most rudimentary of forms so I don't even know where to start to build a parsing tool of this order. If anyone could take pity on me and recommend a simple language and/or tutorials I would be greatly appreciative.

    Very Respectfully
    RadHaz
