    Hey fellas whats good>

Well, I did deadlifts yesterday with not that much weight. At only about 250lbs for sets of 5. I was tought to shrug at the end of the lift by coaches, but i try to target my traps another day.

So, if i DO shrug at the end of my dead and proceed to work out my shoulders the next day, should that be okay?
Like finisih my shrugs on my deadlift day and do my shoulders the next day?

    Thanks
    Ravi

Watch the EFS videos in BlackIce's thread, specifically Bench and Squat, it includes a dozen+ helpful tips on lifts including everything about doing Deads.

Yea, id figure we used to olympic lift while training.
    Now I just cross train.
I think im going to use more of my legs and lower back to pull instead of my shoulders and save my traps for the next day.
Thanks fellas for the quick answers

    You should not be shrugging.

You mind as well throw in a calf raise and a forearm curl at the end too, hit everything in one exercise.

doesn't sound like it's good to shrug deads if you're doing low reps. that's gonna eff something up. i can see doing that if you're in the 15 rep range though.

I was a thrower in college and we had to throw in a shrug at the end of the deadlift. It was to prepare us for a full power clean. We would start fully on the ground, pull with your legs, use our hips to push it through and shug at the top. One fluid movement.

Ah shit! My bad guys. I am thinking of Power Shrugs. Damn, i got them mixed up with deadlifts. Im fuckin dumb.
Ill juts stick to good ol' deadlifts and shrugs on seperate days.
I doubt ill be doin powershrugs any time soon. Maybe during an olympic day.

There is nothing wrong in shrugging at the top of the deadlift. But when your trying to isolate certain muscle groups there is no point to work out your legs, lower back and shoulders, unless you do your legs back and shoulders. (Fuck that, too long for me.)

On the other hand, if your an olympic lifter, you can include power shrugs (deadlfit form with shrug) in your routine.

i still have to disagree. throwing shrugs in on backday when doing a deadlift + shrug shouldnt lead to over training if u still go ahead and shrug on shoulder day... i do this occasionally without any problemos.

actually starting on the ground and shrugging it up at the top is a "high pull"
