i just purchased a dell xps m1330 with 1 GB, DDR2, 667 MHZ, 2 Dimm....I saw that I could buy more ram for a fraction of the cost that dell sells for. However, the sales lady was telling me that the ram I buy needs to be compatible with the m1330 computer only available through dell. Is this true? If not then what kinds of memory would work best with this laptop? Im looking to put in 2 GB of memory in the laptop..

    I saw this for $35 after mail in rebate: CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory -

    Heres the site:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145172

...would this be compatible? Also, is there a difference between laptop memory and desktop memory? Thanks so much for the help!

    Go here.

    http://crucial.com/

See what ram it says is compatible, match the specs to the corsair, if they all match, you should be good to go.

Yeah, Dell wants you to think you have to buy RAM from them
