Help with building computer

Discussion in 'OT Technology' started by Rofl my waffle, Oct 13, 2006.

  1. Well this will be the 3rd or 4th computer I've built and I've never had a problem like this before. This computer is based on an Socket 775 Intel Petium D 840 cpu.

I got started putting everything together and I thought I was done. But when I turn it on, all the fans start spinning, but nothing happens. I dont get any video on the screen nor do I get any beeps or error codes. There is power to the board, and the video card is brand new.

    Any ideas?

Strip it down to bare minimum, see what picks up a POST code. Start there. Could be something as simple as something you skipped over when you hooked everything up and didn't notice.

This is somewhat anecdotal, but I saw it on two out of two D805 cpu builds. Both used intel micro atx boards.

The same thing happened that you are describing, and the fix wound up
    being pretty stinking simple.
After I tore the first one completely apart and rebuilt it, it did the same thing.
So in frustration, I simply pushed the on button for a few seconds longer than usual and it fired right up!
It did the same thing on two identical builds.

    And they now run perfectly.
