Ok this has gotta be easy enough to get rid of but I don't know what to do. No more unwanted programs listed I can uninstall, ran trend micro pc-cillian twice too. All too often I'm forced to format my HD and reinstall windows. I just need to get rid of this spyware/virus crap from porn sites etc. Here's a pic of whats on my taskbar:

With that Security Alert thing popping up every few seconds, the two icons there flashing. When you open internet explorer you get this:

No matter how many times you reset your home page, it always opens to that. Also porn pop-ups occuring every once in awhile.

Just need to delete all that crap! Save me!!!

Install Ad-Aware, Spybot and boot into safe mode and scan.

Here's a thought: Internet Explorer is half your problem. Rid yourself of that, and you'll have less to worry about on porn sites

I use firefox most of the time!

Ad-aware and spybot got rid of a ton, however the 1 icon is still there blinking between a red circle with line through and a white question mark in a blue circle. Fixed my I.E. home page thing. I need to boot into safe mode and do, what button do you hold down again while booting?

I do amazing stuff do know a lot and know all about reformatting too much, give me the sympathy!

Spell check for Firefox? I use ieSpell in I.E.

Do you have Service Pack 2 installed? I registered Spy Sweeper and it is a life saver.

Personally, I'd give up. Spyware is virtually impossible to remove completely, and it's even harder to seal all the holes it creates in your security.

Rebuild your system, and buy a copy of Roxio GoBack (might be owned by Symantec now, I'm not sure). It works like System Restore, but it's harder to hack into, it resets every file on your computer (not just programs and settings), and it lets you restore your computer even if Windows won't boot. It's saved my ass many a time.

If you use GoBack, shut off System Restore. There's no point having the two products fighting with each other.

Well, if your really into XP, you can run some of the programs and manually get rid of it... it takes longer but worth it if you one of those that don't want to re-format everything.

It's a matter first to chk MSCONFIG and unchek all the unnecessary stuff which may include spyware in your startup. Then check your processes in your task manager and see what shouldnt be running. You can google the ".exe" processes and determine what is spyware. I would bet you would have least 3 or 4 more in there. End the processes that you know is spyware. Also sometimes spyware is installed in prog files. Check add/remove programs and program files in C drive and you might find things that shouldn't be there.

I've had enough experience dealing with this crap on friend's pc's that I know what is own my own system and I haven't had an issue yet.

Spyware is getting worse these days!

Download and run hi-jack this. That should help you figure out what program is putting that icon by the clock. Google the app name and I'm sure you'll find info on how to remove it.
