Hi, I just bought a zalman fan and it requires me to remove the stock hsf and all its parts from my mobo.

I removed the black plastic square that the hsf mounts on but there is a metal plate on the backside of the mobo that seems to be glued. How would i go about removed that metal plate?

    Thanks.

Did you try to unscrew the metal posts on the top side of the mobo where the hotsink fan was mounted?

I removed the black plastic outline which was screwed in on the top side of the motherboard. On the backside of the motherboard there is a metal plate affixed to the mobo without any screws. I think I am going to try goof off. Thanks.

I'd check Zalman's pages/forum, you shouldn't have to pry anything off your mobo like that.

The board model and processor type would help greatly in diagnosing the problem.

leave the stock backplate on. Simply screw the brass standoffs that came with the zalman fan into the stock backplate. Then screw the zalman hsf into the standoffs.

Thanks jollyogre. That did the trick - I was about to take a razor to the backplate lol. So far my idle is -6C from stock with arctic silver 5 and the new zalman. ;D
