i made a big mistake and posted this in OffTopic and got some hilarious chops but nothing serious. im not sure if this is the right place but it seems to be the closet thing i got

is there any way to lighten where the eyes are in this photo a bit. i really like it but honestly it looks kind of evil with the shadows on the eyes. can you help me out?

should have shot with fill flash, or you could lighten in photoshop.

    all i did was

    1. duplicate the original picture
    2. apply curves to the top layer and jack up the brightness
    3. apply a mask to the curves layer
    4. mask off everything but the eyes/face
    5. play with the opacity to tone it down as you looked like you had a crazy tan all over your face, and your eyes had bottle caps sitting on them or something while tanning

that was about 2 mins of work, the face's exposure and body exposure dont match at all now. so you need to tweak it a bit, but it's not hard.

Still should have used flill flash, even onboard flash would have taken care of this.

You could also just dodge it in PS with a soft brush on a new layer and tone down the opaciy until it looked right.
