basically im taking off for work in the rockies, and i am able to steal an older computer of mine. its a pent II, 350 mhz.....

anyhow i went to reformat it and now i am unable to install windows 98SE back on, because the floppy disk drive is apparently broken so i cant use a boot disk! now this computer isnt really worth getting a new floppy drive... so i have been tryin to find a Linux os that i can use, but i am having problems, and for the last 3 days i havent been able to get anything running to the hard drive. i have been able to run them off the cd, but i couldnt install any of them to the hard drive... another problem with this, is that i have only about 2GB of space....

yes this is a pain in the ass, but i need something so i can at least browse ot when im away!

    any help is lovely! :bigthumb:

and then one that i was able to run i was not able to partition....

and yes, the computer has 2 hard drives, both 1.2GB or something... it is defiently a piece, but i just need it for web browsing basically...

so i dont know which Linux i can use or what i should do?!?

well, you haven't said which distros you have tried, but most come with a lot more than 2GB of applications and development suites. you need to remove any existing partitions, add the new partitions (/usr on one drive and / on the other drive should do it). and select an installation that will not require more space than you need.

SuSE has the friendliest installer of any OS I've ever installed. It's gonna be tough to fit any modern system on 1.2GB though. I think if you're gonna use that computer, you need to invest in a new hard drive, even if it's only 10 gigs or something (I ran various Linuxes off a 12 gig hard drive for years and years and never filled it all up).
