Hey guys, I have a sentry gun "safe" (more like a locker).... anyway its worked great up until today. The key goes in and turns but nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it open, besides the obvious breaking/drilling the lock out?

All my guns are trapped inside! Aside from my Glock... maybe I can use it to free his friends :noes::cool: haha.

    Here are pics for reference....

Hmmm the thing was only $150. The locksmith will prolly charge about $100, I could probably break this lock and buy a new lock for a decent price.... :dunno:

Well its very easy to pry open....I can get it open about a 1/2 inch where the lock parts are not holding it. If I wanted to break it I could get it in about 10 seconds lol. Im going to try the non-lethal route first.

Pry bar should do the job. I broke into a regular sentry floorsafe with one rather easily, there gun safes look even easier to for open. Whats the locking mech inside look like? bar up and down the door the locks at the top and bottom?

If its built like mine, you could probably drill through the back with a large hole saw attachment or sawzall, open from the inside if possible and then weld a plate back in the holes place.

    GOT IT!

Was able to pry it open from the top using a hammer. The nut that held the bars onto the lock came off so when the key was being turned it wouldnt move the bars and the metal pieces wouldnt pull out of the door. Luckily there was no tention on the bars so the top one was the only one still holding it.

To top it all off, It still works! Even the top lock which I really had to lay into.:wiggle:

...and now you have a real-world asessment of just how much security that safe really provides.

I knew that's what had happened. Cheap key locks do it all the time. Get some Loctite and put it back on.

And maybe JB weld the bottom lip of the door sill so the tolerance is a little tighter and someone else can't do the same thing you just did.

I was going to suggest driving around with it attatched to your car by a 10 foot rope, but that works too

you'd figure it's like the better car alarms, that have ignition kill... when it fails, it fails open... so you can still use the car, until it's fixed... now cheap alarms you're fucked. :dunno:
