Help my GF

    My girlfriend is interested in losing weight, who would've guessed.
    Shes 5'10" and weighs 150lbs.
    She claims she counts her calories, but I ask her how many shes had the on day and she sits there trying to count them up. Either way I'd like to help her achieve her goal. Whats the best way to get her to start.

    She does cardio everyday of the week and then throws in abs or something stupid. I've seen her doing db press too. Either way should I just tell her to count her calories or to do a 40%/30/20 with her protein fat carbs. I doubt she knows her maintenance caloric intake.

    Whats the best way to approach this?

    Get her to find her maintenance level and then have her eat under that? She assumes the less she eats IE 1200 calories a day the better.

    My gf said the same shit to me months ago that she wanted to start workin out. I did a little bit of research and then I'll let you guess when she got started with the gym again... Yeah never.

    Don't break your back tryin to figure shit out, make sure she's going to be dedicated to the gym and shit first.

    I have made a few programs for my girl. She is dedicated enough to go to the gym, but unless I am with her, she feels intimidated to go into the guys section and lift weights as per the program I gave her. So she ends up doing a lot of cardio and then comes home and does some weights with her dumbells or goes into the girls section at the gym and does her thing.

    On a side note, we go to the gym and do a leg day once a week togethor at minimum. She is 5'3 and maybe 115 ( I have no idea her weight to be honest ) and she is squatting 115 for sets of 10 full ass to the grass. Every week we are upping the weight 10 pounds and she seems to be coping well. We just started doing this last month and I think I am more excited to see her squat 135 ATG than she is.

    Cliffs - Try go with her to the gym when she is actually lifting weights so she feels less intimidated doing new excersizes.

    I told this girl the other night that she might be cute if she lost 15lbs and she wigged out and starting calling me a fucking asshole along with all the usual suspects.

    Later that night before she left she came up to me to ask me how she should go about losing the 15lbs. :bowrofl:

    My dads buddy told his wife that he didn't marry a fat bitch and if she didn't loose weight then he wanted nothing to do with her, she got on ephedra and started working out eventually loosing 20 pounds.

    Here's the thing...most girls will fail at the diet part pretty easily. The key to making progress is to push them hard enough in the gym that they have to make progress. I've always had girls do a basic 3-day split and add in cardio after lifting. Make her swap out one meal at a time for a better one. The transition is alot easier.

    Shes already dedicated. She goes everyday mostly to some spin class the gym offers. Then she runs or does her own thing which varies from random weight lifting movements or abs.

    Just do basic compound movements that will hit her whole body? Don't do the max either? Say maybe 60-70% of it?

    I think it has more to do with the diet she has because the dedication is there. Shes been going to the gym since she left HS just going about it the wrong way. How many calories and what kind of diet should I offer her? As I said earlier she does an hour of cardio a day, that seems to be her solution to the problem and well in the past month she doesnt seemed to have changed much :o.
