I was very stupid the other day and thought I'd DL a certain new sci-fi movie with Limewire. Everything looked legit: decent amount of hosts, 719MB avi file. The file does nothing. It doesn't even make RealPlayer engage. I am also unable to access the files properties. I tried to delete it today, but Windows is convinced that it is already in use. I ran Norton and Adaware to no avail. My computer runs very slowly. There is no System Idle Process any longer. explorer.exe is pretty much monopolizing my processor.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

fresh UI might be able to help you free download and you can shut down programs from your startup with it if you cna figure out what program is jammin you up, i had a prob with spyware doctor once and this thing saved my ass, it made my system do pretty much what yours is doing but i don't know that much about this shit so probably don't listen to me

I just restarted my computer and Norton finally found the thing. W32.Allim is the virus and Zone Alarm intercepted "process 1812" when it tried to acces the internet. Now for the clean up... Norton is telling me that it is unable to do anything to this damn W32.Allim

Actually, I would add ZoneAlarm to your list of problems, as well.

Remove Norton and ZoneAlarm, then run spybot S&D, adaware, ms anti-spyware, and AVG.... Then make sure your systems is updated with sp2 and all critical updates.

I just installed and updated AVG, it doesn't even find the virus. I googled it, I guess it is a AIM worm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In case anyone cares or has the same problem, I had to open Windows in Safe mode and run Notron AntiVirus in order to quarantine and remove the virus. AVG never found it, even with the most recent updates. More info including more in-depth removal instructions can be found at:

    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.allim.b.html

Thank you to all of you that helped.
