I just reformatted (Windows XP home) my laptop, and for some reason I cant get any new drivers to install for my video card. I have a 32MB Mobility Radeon 9000. I have gone to the ATI website and downloaded the latest driver, however when I try to install it, it says I dont have the right software/hardware. I tried a few month older drivers, but they dont work either. So right now my driver is the one from the XP reinstall disk that is over a year old. Why won't it install? Before I reformatted, it worked fine and I could run half-life at max options with no problems at all. but now I cant even get it to run moderately smoothly. Please help!!!1

this is the driver I am trying to install that wont work, I am pretty sure it is the right one

What, exactly, does it say that you don't have?

What type of notebook do you have?? I suggest you go to their website and download the drivers from them. ATi doesn't really support video cards that are built in with many notebooks and desktops that are out right now.

It doesnt say anything specific, but I must not have something I used too, considering how much slower some games are running. I got the driver from Dell (its an Inspiron), and I did run windows update and such. No viruses or anything. Are there any special OpenGL drivers or something?

Did you install SP1 or SP2 yet? How about DirectX 9?

Try going to the device manager and completely removing and uninstalling the video card. Reboot and when it detects your "new" hardware point it to your updated drivers. Sometimes Windows doesn't want to let go.

You have to go to the site of the computer manufacturer if it's a laptop. ATI doesn't update the Radeon drivers for laptops.

It even says so in the support section of ATI if you type Mobility Radeon drivers, but it's not easy to find

    (Had the same problem today)
