anyways...I got media passes for the tiesto event in LA. I've never shot in a club before...so there's going to be alot of lights & lasers going off. Plus the club has a high ceiling.

    What lens should i get? I'm thinking of renting a fisheye 15mm f2.8 but with the rebel's 1.6 crop...i don't think i'll be maximizing it so i'll prolly rent another canon body as well. I'll be getting a 580ex for sure, maybe a 24-70L f2.8 & a 70-200 f2.8 as well.

:o I need all the help you guys can give me so I'll be prepared.

are you taking pictures of the club itself or the club patrons? if you are taking pics of the actual club, get something in the area of 12-24mm, actual patrons, you'll need something like the 17-40. You don't need a f/2.8, but it could come in quite handy. Flash = definite yes if taking pictures of people, not as much for the club shots.

I usually just use my 12-24 and only use the flash for patron photos. im looking into getting a monopod for some setups though. lasers and gobo's look better when you're not handholding all the time.

You'll never get the 70-200 out. Especially if it's crowded and dark. Stick with the advice you got already and save your money. Something in the 17-55 range is all probably need, wider if you want. Flash, learn to use the slow sync and rear curtain functions too those both allow you to achieve some club photos that are not mundane. You might want a soft bounce or a big diffuser too, as flash lit photos in clubs are always too harsh and it's high ceilings so you won't be able to bounce.

I personally would go with the 16-35 f/2.8L if you can find one to rent. The 2.8 will really help you with keeping your shutter speed at a decent speed, and 16 is probably wide enough on your 1.6x.

what is that rubber thing that goes on top of a flash that is suppose to be an improvement on bouncing or a diffuser. some guy is hawking them on his website for portraits and weddings.
