I'm assuming I need around 300wrms at 2ohms. What are your reccommendations? I'm going to be running the sub in a sealed box.

I'd say between $200-350. Looking for something with a 18db-24db slope. Something enough to drive the sub and not underpower it.

Why would you need more power than the driver is rated for?

Can it not sound better with more power? With the jl amps they put out the same power at 11-14 volts right? What about the Jl E1400D?

It wont sound any better with 300W vs 250. I doubt anyone could even tell the difference. And depending on the box volume you may be better off with less power. On that note, what is the box volume?

Only the Slash series of amps do constant power from 11-14V.

I'm not sure on the volume yet. I haven't had it built. Its going to be a sealed box in a single cab dodge ram(05 model).

The e1400D will be fine if you are going with the box volume JL recommends. You might gain a bit of SPL over the 250/1, but you will need to be careful that you arent stressing the driver.

I'd get the 250/1 and have a bigger box built, about 1 cu.ft instead of the recommended 0.625 cu.ft.

I'd try and get in good with a local shop and see what kind of deal they can do for you. OnlineCarStereo has the 250/1 for $339. Dont know any other places that sell JL online. I wont touch ebay for amps unless I'm looking for something discontinued.
