OK.. I've decided to hold on to this computer for a few more months before I get a new rig. But I do want to get a new video card.

    Needs to be AGP 4x/8x

Needs to have 2 DVI outputs

Right now I'm looking at the 6800XT

    and the X1600PRO

I am really out of the loop as far as the advantages of GDDR3 over GDDR2, and the differences between memory interface and memory size.. anyone care to help me out?

I have a 7600GT which has dual DVI output and runs most of my games on high.

I have a Geforce 6800 Ultra with 256mb of RAM. It was the best out when I got it like almost 2 years ago. I would go with the 7 series, they are just a better design, with wider bus and all that. Don't worry about the specs of hardware pieces, look at the total performance.

Right now, a 2.4 GHZ Core 2 Duo processor, will smoke like a 3.4 GHZ Pentium D. Graphics cards have continued to use 400-500 Mhz core speeds but have multiple pipes. Did you check reviews of both cards, done by websites like www.tomshardware.com or www.anandtech.com to see which offering, Nvidia or ATI faired better?

I like NVIDIA better, the drivers seem to be the best!
