<- doing a lease on either

    a)

    Nikon D70 + Dx kit lens (good lens) + SB800 Flash + 50mm 1.8

    b)

    Canon 20d + 18-55 Kit lens ( supposed to be a "meh" lens )

= same price.... I personaly like the canon better in many ways, but fuck same price!!!!!! :/ EEEK. Probably going to go with D70; what do you guys think! [IMG]

D70, best choice I ever made. There is a whole "canon nikon" war on OT so for more "accurate" advice refer to www.dpreview.com for extensive reviews or my all time favorite, www.epinions.com

Yeah i've been reading dpreview forums and revews for over a year now lol; I truthfully think canon even 300d rebel gets better smoother/clearer results than D70; due to its lack of aa-filter which also causes moire in some cases ( which you can fix of course )

If canon was cheaper I'd get the 20d no doubt, the I originally wanted a D70 and with the flash + 50 1.8 you can't go wrong I figure.

the 20d w/ 18-55 kit lens is $1900 at Aden Camera BTW - shows as not in stock, but I got henry's to pricematch.

the EF 50mm f1.8 mk II is on sale too at $119.

I have no experience with the D70, but I'd recommend the 20D based on my experience with it thus far.

    Sample:
from one of my tests100% crop (saved as 60% jpg) - I did run it through 2 passes with USM though (50, 0.5, 0)

i'd pick the d70 over the canon. Don't get me wrong, the canons are nice but the nikons just do it for me. the lens for the nikons are also better in my opinion.

20D's sensor would be reason enough for me to choose it

Damn it, still undecided I either go with

    Nikon D70 + Sb800 + Kit lens + 50 1.8

    Canon 20D + 17-85 Usm IS + 50 1.8 (ends up being more $$)

Yeah, its a 3 year lease; with ability to buy out for 10$ at end of term; and trade or upgrade at any time.

    If you get the 20D, get a 17-40mm f/4L and 85mm f/1.8 instead of the 17-85 and 50mm . :mamoru:

The Nikon D70 w/SB-800 and kit lens are hard to beat for bang for your buck .

If you're going to lease it, why not buy a film SLR to learn on, maybe sell some prints and then actually buy the dSLR? :dunno: Or hell, even see if you're that interested in photography period with the film SLR versus signing a lease on a camera. :ugh:

I'd go D100 over the 70.. as for the Canon it's great for landscape. You aren't going to really notice a difference as far as quality, but the extra MP are goign to allow you to crop in more which is great for Landscape photography.

Too bad their VR lenses aren't as good as the IS.

    :squint:

VR tends to provide a greater number of handholding stops than IS .

The hell, you need image stabilization for landscape photography? Get a tripod. :hsugh:
